Rating points
How a rated match moves points: Elo, what a win is worth, and when the points move.
Elo
- Everyone starts at 1,000. Ratings are Elo with K = 40: the winner takes points from the loser, more when the loser was rated higher, fewer when lower.
- Between two players of the same rating, a win moves +20, and the loss as much the other way.
- 200 points apart, the favourite’s win moves +10 and the underdog’s +30.
Matches that move less
- Against a new account, an established player’s rating does not move at all; the new one’s moves as usual.
- The same rival again within 7 days moves a shrinking share: all, ½, ¼, ⅛, then nothing.
- Many matches move nothing: private ones, cups, bots, Level 1, the Wilds, short or unfought ones… Fair play lists them all.
When points move
- As the match ends: Game Over shows the change and your new rank.
- The ratings are always worked out again from every stored match, in the order they were played: a match excluded later (boosting, a bug) takes its points away from everyone it moved.
- Each rated match moves both tables, the season’s and all-time, from each player’s rating in that table (Seasons and medals).
